INTRODUCTION
A country’s foreign policy means having relations with the outside world. From the beginning, it is thought for the betterment of the society to have good connections with the people of the border area.
In the present times, this thought has gained more importance. No country can prosper without a relationship with other countries. This is why Pakistan tries to make good relations with the outside world.
BASIC PRINCIPLES OF FOREIGN POLICY
Pakistan’s Foreign policy works on the following principles۔
- Free Foreign policy
- Safety of National Interest
- Protection of Freedom and Independence
- Avoiding intending internal affairs and terrorism
- Following the UN Charter
- Efforts for freedom of Kashmir
- Unity of the Islamic World
- To increase the relation with the third world
- Marking mutual relations
- Opposing racialism and supporting the right to self-determination
- Safety of fundamental human rights and promotion of peace and harmony
- Getting a membership in an international organization.
1. FREE FOREIGN POLICY
Although from the beginning, it had been one of the principles of Pakistan’s Foreign Policy to be free, it affected Western countries. Now, in the present, Pakistan is making relations with countries willing to make friends on an equal basis.
2. SAFETY OF NATIONAL INTEREST
From the beginning, Pakistan’s Foreign Policy aimed at the national interest. Pakistan is not willing to accept to stop its atomic policy despite American pressure. In addition to that, Pakistan is not signing the International Weapon’s treaties.
3. SAFETY OF FREEDOM AND INDEPENDENCE
The most crucial principle of Pakistani Foreign is to have freedom, independence, the safety of national interest, and the safety of national integrity. To live and let live is the quality of Pakistan’s Foreign Policy. Pakistan does not want to make relations with that country, which is dangerous for Pakistan’s independence and integrity.
4. AVOIDING INTENDING INTERNAL AFFAIRS AND TERRORISM
Pakistan is on the way to avoiding the internal affairs of any other country and preventing terrorism in its foreign policy. That is why neither Pakistan takes an interest in the internal affairs of any government nor it lets any other country take an interest in its internal affairs
5. FOLLOWING THE UN CHARTER
Pakistan took the oath to follow the UN Charter after becoming a member of the UN on September 30, 1947. Pakistan is still on the way to that charter. It takes part actively in the activities of the UM. Besides, it respects the decisions of the UN. In short, Pakistan has made the charter of the UN one of the basic principles of its foreign policy.
6. EFFORTS FOR THE FREEDOM OF KASHMIR
It is an essential aspect of Pakistan’s Foreign policy to make other countries agree on the freedom of Kashmir. This is not only because Kashmir is the “Shah Rug of Pakistan”, but geographically, Kashmir is a part of Pakistan, and freedom of Kashmir is a must for Pakistan.
7. UNITY OF THE ISLAMIC WORLD
Pakistan is an ideological state whose ideology is Islam. That is why Pakistan always tries to create good relations with all Islamic Countries. Even in the constitution of Pakistan, it has been made compulsory to make friendly relations with the Islamic Countries. In short, Pakistan has made it an obligation to make friends with the Islamic world.
8. TO INCREASE THE RELATION WITH THE THIRD WORLD
The Third World Countries are commonly thought of as poor and backward. To make good relations with these countries is the basic principle of Pakistan’s Foreign Policy. Pakistan wants to unite the World Countries to stop the exploitation of developed countries. Pakistan is on the policy of making mutual relations with the big powers.
9. MAKING MUTUAL RELATIONS
Due to this policy, Pakistan is not only having good relations with America, Britain, and France, but also with Russia and China.
10. OPPOSING TO RACIALISM
It is one of the essential principles of Pakistan’s foreign policy to oppose every country that supports radicalism and to support every country on the way to self-determination. Its proof is supporting Palestine, Kashmir, and Central Asian Muslim states
11. SAFETY OF BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS
Pakistan always supports fundamental human rights and the promotion of peace and harmony. Pakistan wants such changes in the world’s economic system, which enable all the people of the world to develop equally. In addition to that,, Pakistan wants all the world’s countries to have justice so that peace can be maintained.
11. GETTING MEMBERSHIP IN AN INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION
Because of its free and independent foreign policy, Pakistan is a member of many international organizations. The organization of which Pakistan is a member is the Organization of Islamic Conference and Economic Cooperation Organization.

Pakistan’s foreign policy is based on the best and definite principles. Pakistan is maintaining a respectable place due to its free policy and direction of mutual relationship. Pakistan became an atomic power because of its foreign policy. Supporting the independence movement is one of the basic principles of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
